Many factors go into estimating the life of a mechanical component or product.
Do you know what it is made from? Have you an understanding how it is made? Do you understand how is it used?
These are just a few of the many aspects that affect the life of a mechanical component.
Safety factors can make things durable, stronger, or safer, and seem like a very common sense thing to do.
But does accounting for durability, strength and safety, ensure longevity?
And if longevity is assured, can they be said to be reliable? And at what cost is that factor being assigned?
